Brokenness

Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven—for she loved much. But he who has been forgiven little loves little.” Luke 7:47

No one can say it like scripture can, but I would definitely jump at the chance to put together a teaching for this particular passage; though that is not what my goal is for this post.

The lessons I have learned the last two years of my life are too numerous to count; even though most of them revolve around a common circumstance.  It never ceases to amaze me how the Lord can use just ONE incident to produce multiple outcomes for His glory.  What is even more amazing is that usually that ONE incident occurred because of sin and yet He still graciously intercedes.

What Jesus says to Mary Magdalene gets me every time.  Sometimes there are just certain things that “bring on the rain”.  For example, everytime I sit and watch The Snoodles Tale (Veggie Tales) I tear up.  When the “Father” tells the little Snoodle at the end that He made him and loves him and puts his art on his fridge  …Oh MAN!  It just gets me.  It makes me feel like that little snoodle, Oh how He loves us!

What Jesus paid for us on the cross isn’t even fathomable.  It is beyond what my mind can tackle.  In humbly accepting His forgiveness, I begin to love more.  The more I have been forgiven, the more I want to forgive.  The more I am loved, the more I want to love.  The more God fills me up with His spirit, the more I want to pour out.

Though my sins are too numerous to count, Jesus loved me that much more by suffering and paying that debt for me on the cross.  My prayer is that I can love others that way and be used in any way that pleases Him to bring about His glory. If it was you I have hurt, please forgive me.   If someone else hurt you, please, forgive them.

He is ever present with us and our eternal life is too victorious to be bitter.

I will not be silent.

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despisePsalm 51:17

The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18

But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6
