The Man Who Climbed a Mountain
There once was a man who decided to climb a mountain.
A mountain full of heights and peaks, and glorious views.
The benefits were great and many chose to climb.
But you’d have to give up your life and never look behind.
So this man took the step and with others he began to climb
looking forward to the end that would come with time.
After a while had passed, with a heart to finish well,
he noticed in the distance, some sort of mystery trail.
It seemed to call out to him, speaking to his heart.
No one must have heard, they all were too smart.
Looking up, he saw others passing it by
and continuing on per the Climber’s Guide.
With great temptation, he looked away from them all
and began on this trail, that would eventually hurt them all.
He noticed this new trail seemed pure and refreshing
full of water and life and love never-ending.
Even with all these things, his heart had trouble
in making this decision, he was full of turmoil.
Some of his friends called after him and some he even lost
but there was one in particular that was his greatest cost.
After some time, he’d look back with hope to return,
but guilt and pride pressed in, eventually losing his yearn.
The rocks grew great and darkness crept in,
no more water, and no more life, all alone in his sin.
Suddenly his foot slipped, and with pain and heartache he fell
into a pit, so large not one could hear him yell.
“So this is where the mystery path will lead…” he thought,
“nothing was worth it, now I can see.”
Many dark and cold days he sat alone in the pit
expecting death and hell to be all that was it.
When suddenly a hand reached down and pulled him out
looking up he realized what love was really about.
What the man once thought was right finally showed true
’twas nothing but a lie and very dark gloom.
All that he had learned was too much to hold,
he’d now follow the right path but now, more bold.
With humility he began with great determination
finding all those in that very same temptation.
In love and forgiveness like he was shown,
he poured into them all he had learned on his own.
The end of this story is for you to finish
will you choose what is right or will you be diminished?
The wrong way looks easy, good, and right
but in the end, it will cost you your life!
